Cayetano Romero
Cayetano Romero es el padre de pequeñas figuras que al cabo vienen a ser una sola: el propio artista. En algunas la piel está recorrida por letras, palabras, incluso literatura. Una caligrafía metafórica que escribe la superficie de estos seres y a veces se prolonga por páginas y libros que son su mundo, por los que caminan, por los que piensan y sienten.
Otras figuras surgen del propio libro, al que no dejan de pertenecer, y lo que fue tipografía mecánica se transforma en caligrafía humana dotando de vida a estos seres. Por todas ellas transpira el mundo de la lectura y la escritura, como le sucede al artista. Sí, pequeños e infinitos autorretratos que, como las personas, se hacen a medida que se escriben y se leen. Recoger esos escritos y lecturas sobre este diario o memoria de peculiar trascendencia es, al fin y al cabo, una forma de capturar el tiempo. El poeta Ángel González, como tantos, es uno de sus predilectos.
Artista residente en Málaga, Licenciado en Bellas Artes y profesor de Expresión Volumétrica en la Escuela de Arte San Telmo de Málaga. Ha realizado labores de comisariado en diversas exposiciones y participado en numerosas exposiciones tanto individuales como colectivas. Las últimas de estas, en La Casa Fuerte de Bezmiliana en Málaga, en El Museo Casa de los Tiros de Granada, en El Museo Provincial de Málaga y en Los Reales Alcazares de Sevilla. En el 2001, fue elegido para realizar junto al diseñador Antonio Herraiz La Biznaga del Festival de Cine de Málaga, estatuilla que se entrega a los galardonados en dicho certamen.
Cayetano Romero is the father of small figures that in the end come to be only one: the artist himself. In some of them the skin is covered by letters, words, or even literature. A metaphorical calligraphy that writes the surface of these beings and at times extends through pages and books that constitute their world, through which they walk, think and feel.
Other figures emerge from the book itself, of which they are part, and what was once mechanical typography is transformed into human calligraphy, giving life to these creatures. The world of reading and writing transpires through all of them, as it happens to the artist. Small and infinite self-portraits that, like people, are made as they are written and read. Collecting those writings and readings on this diary or memory of peculiar transcendence is, ultimately, a way of capturing time.The poet Ángel González, like so many, is one of his predilections.
Artist living in Malaga, graduated in Fine Arts and professor of Volumetric Expression at the San Telmo School of Art in Malaga. He has curated several exhibitions and participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions. The most recent in La Casa Fuerte de Bezmiliana in Malaga, in El Museo Casa de los Tiros in Granada, in El Museo Provincial de Malaga and in Los Reales Alcazares in Seville. In 2001, together with the designer Antonio Herraiz, he was chosen to create the Biznaga of the Malaga Film Festival, a statuette that is given to the winners of this event.
